day 4

time for coffee
time for friends

ps. I feel the urge to say : aestheticism is not a prime interest of mine. I love beauty when I can find it. But there is always meaning and the meaning is, as we often say, socially constructed. So, there it is. A society (or more than one actually) inside each picture. Striving into cultural transmissions, in time and space.

  3. Ninni (I think it must be you), you are doing a good work with the language, it is not easy after all!

Accessory Lady, I am glad you like my pictures. They are shot in a city, in the old city of Xanthi. But there is that relaxed feeling there as well :)

  5. I agree, unfortunately. The appearence of many cities is harsh but not because of the material itself (the beton), but because of the way it is used.

You know (I used to say this to my students and I had to repeat it often to myself, too) there are no 'bad' materials, just like there are no 'ugly' colours.

We say 'ugly' in greek using the word α-σχημο, which means having no shape.

  7. You are saying that a shape is a hard thing that doesn't change easily or that it can not change at all. Whereas, no shape changes easily - but to what direction??

I think it takes a shape to trace a direction, to express the idea of change, to ask the question of change.

It takes a shape to be.

All the people without shape... They are shaped so easily the way they are told, they are so easily pursuaded, then they have the most inflexible shape of "thinking".
